The Creator & His Creation; Tough Questions Part 2

The Creator & His Creation

Tough Questions

Part 2

God's creation process, used for a divine purpose!

Let's begin the short study of Genesis 1:1-3

Genesis 1:1

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Notes:

- God (Yahweh) is ‘Uncreated’ & Infinite

- He created time, space & matter

1) In the beginning = time

2) the heavens = space

3) earth = matter

- Unlike creation, God is not limited to the confines of time, space, matter.

Genesis 1:2

“The earth was without form, void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”

Notes:

- God’s creation can do nothing on its own (without form, void, dark)

- He has a Spirit (“the Spirit of God”) *Holy Spirit

- His Spirit is not absent from creation even though creation has yet to be fully formed (“..The Spirit of God was ‘hovering over’..)

*Hovering: Connotes “sweeping”

Genesis 1:3

“Then God said ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.”

Notes:

- This is the first Biblical record of God speaking

- Darkness is the first issue God addresses (“Let there be light”)

* Darkness- is the total or near total absence of light

- His Word reveals His power (“..God said, ‘Let there be light’..”)

- His Word is final (“..and there was light.”)

- His Purpose includes a process:  (V1 “God created” / V3“God said”)

Thoughts:

“The earth was without form, void; darkness was on the face of the deep”

God desired that creation not be independent of Him but rather depend on Him for three things:  Form / Fullness / Light

Creation does not just mean plant & animal life, but including His most valued creation on earth which was mankind.

-Genesis 2:7 “..and God breathed the ‘breath of life’ into man.”

No other creation did He ‘breathe life into’

-Psalms 8:6 “You have made him (man) to have dominion over the works of your hands..”

God has given us dominion over all of His creation

Now let us understand His form, Fullness, and Light & how it relates to us!

1) His Form, our Salvation (Of Him)

- Our form is Of Him

“God created man in His own image”

 Genesis 1:27

“..So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

Romans 12:5

- Our Salvation is Of Him

“For by grace you have been saved through faith and not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works, so no man can boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9

“..Salvation is of the Lord”

Jonah 2:9

2) His Fullness, our Freedom (Through Him)

- Our Fullness is Through Him

“And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace”

John 1:16

“For in Him (Christ) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power”

Colossians 2:9-10

- Our Freedom is Through Him

“Stand fast therefore in the freedom by which Christ has made us free..”

Galatians 5:1

“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”

3) His Light, our Life (To Him)

- Our Light is To Him

“For You will light my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness”

Psalms 18:28

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in Heaven”

Matthew 5:16

- Our Life is To Him

“For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God When Christ who is our life appears, then you will also appear with Him in glory”

Colossians 3:3-4

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the fleshI live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”

The earth was created by God, yet without the process of God’s purpose it remained ‘without form, void, and dark’

“For Of Him, Through Him, and To Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”

Romans 11:36

This simply incredible story of creation now unfolds before our very eyes, not only the process of creation but the process for our redemption & sanctification through the One & Only Christ Jesus

YAHWEH , BLESSED BE YOUR NAME!

PART 3

We will finally use our study material encourage ourselves in the validity and the true character of the Word of God but also to answer the following tough questions.

1) Why would a “Perfect God” allow imperfection in His creation?

2) Why do bad things happen to good people?

3) Does God know my pain?

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

Matthew 7:7-8
